Friday 08th December 2006: Islands of Adventure

Today we had a day off so seven of us went to Islands of Adventure for the day. Islands of Adventure is a theme park owned by Universal Studios and it is separated into different islands, such as Seuss Land, Superhero Island, Jurassic Park and the Lost Continent.

We all bought annual passes which also lets us go into Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure unlimited times and with discounts off the shops and restaurants in the theme parks and so some discounts in restaurants in City Walk, which is like Downtown Disney but owned by Universal Studios.

We arrived at lunchtime after having a lay in and got some lunch. Then we went on a kiddies train and Duelling Dragons. It's a rollercoaster which consists of two separate tracks, so two rollercoasters go at the same time, intertwining and crossing over each other. It's meant to be a battle between fire and ice dragons - as one is blue and the other is red. It's a great ride and there are certain points where you look as if you're going to collide with the other coaster and then suddenly it changes course. They actually have a height limit on this ride, so no one over a certain height can go on it in case their feet hit anyone on the other coaster!

We also went on the Flying Unicorn, the Jurassic Park ride, and the The Hulk twice, which is absolutely immense. It has some very high loops and it was fantastic! Also Johnny, Rob and Celsey went to the Dudley D0-Right Ripsaw Falls water ride, which i decided not to go on because it was cold. However they did and they got very wet but to make things worse, there are water cannons on the bridge, which people can pay to use and fire water at the people in the boats below. So Chris and Kirsty hired the water cannons and shot water at them as they came around (it was so funny and you can see from the photos how wet they were).

In the evening 11 of us went out for dinner to a restaurant called the Golden Corral. It's basically an all you can eat buffet for $11 (£6) and there is soooo much food to choose from including, roast dinner, steak, pasta, chicken wings - the list goes on and on. I was absolutely stuffed afterwards!
