Sunday 18th February 2007: Carla’s Birthday Celebrations Round One
I haven't been uptomuch rencentley apart from work and today I started work at 1400 and finished at 2200 and I was food running with Mooch. After work I went around to Lyndsay’s apartment and they had Pizza and I had BBQ buffalo chicken wings (which were really nice), to celebrate Carla’s, but Zoe couldn’t make it as she was feeling ill after the cruise her and Carla had been on. So there was Lyndsay, Ian, Celsey, Carla and Me. It was a very nice and relaxing evening.

Thursday 15th February 2007: Bar Meeting and Blizzard Beach
This morning Carla, Zoe, Rob, Colin and I attended the bar meeting because we are all interested in going into the bar to work. During the meeting they had a wine presentation and tasting and I was really bad with trying to work out what the wine was.
Then after the meeting I walked around the World Show Case and had a look in a few of the shops and around the countries. When I arrived back at The Commons Celsey and I decided to go to Blizzard Beach for the afternoon 1, because it was really hot and 2, because it was free. I had a really nice afternoon of sitting in the sunshine reading my book and going on the lazy river for a while.

Wednesday 14th February 2007: Valentine’s Day
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRSTY!!!! Today Celsey and I had the day off so we went down to Downtown Disney to do a wee bit of shopping, as it was the last day for our 40% discount. So I brought a few bits for myself (like normal) and just had a good look around the shops, enjoying the sunshine.
On the way home we stopped off at Walgreen’s to pick up a little bit of food shopping and then got the bus back to The Commons. When we were sat on the bus at Vista Way (another Disney housing complex) a couple of people from the International Program Office came on board and handed out little love heart cakes to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which I thought was quite cute and they were so tasty.

We ordered pizza and other food from Dominos and sat around chatting and listening to music and there were quite a few people there so we had to make sure we weren’t making too much noise. However during the party I went to Carla’s apartment to give her, her birthday present as well because her and Zoe our going on a cruise tomorrow for 4 days so I wont get to see on her birthday.

Tuesday 13th February 2007: Service Bar Training
Today I had my service bar training with Jo. I had an excellent day is I got to make different cocktails and also try them (which was the best part). Throughout the day I was learning how to make different drinks and making all the drinks for the restaurant, as well as learning about the bar and where everything is and having to wash the glasses and talking to guests. I really enjoyed my day and Jo was an excellent trainer and I would like to spend some more time in the bar and hopefully be trained as both a server and a bartender.

Monday 12th February 2007: First Day as a Trained Food Runner
Today I was working with Ashling food running and I had a really good day, as I remembered what I was doing and Ashling said I was doing great and I was carry three plates to the tables more comfortably (without the fear of smashing the plates). Also at the end of the night I was given my tips and I made about $130 dollars in one evening and usually that is a week’s wages, so that was really cool.
In the evening Celsey and I went to lassies, which was good fun. We played a few games and had some drinks and then about 0015 we went to Old Town and meet up with the Lads in a Karaoke Bar (which was a bit of a dive). There was only us and a couple of other people in there which was very weird.

Sunday 11th February 2007: Food Running Training
Today Mooch and I started our food running training with Ashling. We started off up stairs with all the paperwork and making sure we knew where the tables were and we also learnt about position numbers, so that we take to correct dinner to each guest. Then after about an hour of paperwork we were shown what plates are used for each meal and we had to learn how to carry them and we had to shown Ashling that we could easily carry 3 plates.
After lunch we went down stairs and we were told about the responsibilities as a food runner and what needed to be done each day. Then we started taking the food to the tables. We had a very busy night and I was completely shattered, so I didn’t feel like going to House of Blues this week.

Thursday 08th February 2007: Blizzard Beach
Today was another really nice hot day so I firstly head to the pool opposite my apartment to sunbath for a while waiting for Celsey and I meet Alex by there and Beth joined us shortly after. It was very nice to sit by the pool and relax and chat with friends. However the pace was interrupted went a few Mexican guys decided to start pushing people in the pool (which is freezing as it has no heating) and poor Alex was one of there victims and when he got out the pool he looked so cold (bless him).
When Celsey arrived at about midday we headed to Blizzard Beach for the afternoon in the sun. We went in the lazy river and I sat by the pool reading my book. But we were also in and out of the large wave pool, as it was to hot to be sat in the sun for a long time.

Wednesday 07th February 2007: Outlet Mall, EPCOT and MGM
In the morning walked across to the outlet malls after having a lay in and had a look around the shops and because it was lunchtime and also very hot I decided to buy myself a chocolate ice cream. The ice cream was very nice but I could only eat half of it was it melted very quickly and was only everywhere.
Then whilst I was waiting for Celsey at the bus stop I meet so for the new girls waiting for the Wal-mart bus (Oh what fun awaits them). Then Celsey and I caught the bus to EPCOT because we missed the bus for MGM and walked through the park to International Gateway where we caught the b
oat to MGM. It was really nice because it was so hot and relaxing.
When we finally got to MGM Celsey and I went and got some lunch and sat down at benches close to Terror Towers. There Celsey said to me “Steph look behind you” and you won’t believe it but Terry Irwin, the children and her mother were sat on the next table. I was so shocked to see them again but we didn’t disturb them as they were on holiday and I would know what to say to her. But I just thought that seeing them twice in two days was very funny.
After lunch Celsey dragged me onto Terror Tower as it’s her favourite ride (just like my parents and Nicky) and I sat in my usually spot so I could hold on tight and scream, I HATE IT. Then we went to go and watch The High School Musical Parade but it was cancelled so we want and got a chocolate smoothie and frozen lemonade to share, because it was really, really hot. After that we went on the Star Tours ride because there wasn’t a queue and then headed back to watch the parade. Once it finished we caught the bus back to The Commons.

Tuesday 06th February 2007: I’m Not a Newbie Anymore, YAY
Today I was working a seater but the greeter wasn’t feeling very well so took over for the majority of the night. Then at about 8pm one of the servers came out to the desk and asked me why I didn’t tell anybody that there was a VIP in the restaurant. I said that I hadn’t greeted any VIPs, then server then told me the name that I recognised I had checked in and say I didn’t realise she was famous. So I went into the restaurant to take another look and then I did remember who she was. It was Terry Irwin (Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter’s wife, children and mother-in-law). I was gob smacked as I didn’t recogniser her at the desk because I
was so busy and she was my first famous guest to serve out here. OH MY GOD.
Also today all the new arrival are came and it was really exciting because I knew that there were four girls for food and beverage (F&B) and six people for Merch, so there will be a lot of new faces about. So tonight almost everybody from the UK Pavilion went to Aaron and Chris’ apartment for the newbie’s welcome party, there was only a little problem with this and that is when we arrived most of the newbie’s had been and gone because they were tried so Celsey, Zoe, Carla and I only met four of the new arrivals and none of the F&B group (oh well, never mind I have 10 more months to find them). So we all just sat around drink and chatting until the early hours of the morning

Today I worked from 1115 until 1645 because I was given an ER today, which was really good because I was tried and also I had a load of laundry to do. In the evening Carla, Celsey and I went around to Zoe apartment for wine and a girlies night in with Zoe’s flat mates, which was really nice and relaxing.

Sunday 04th February 2007: House of Blues
I worked in the chippie again today from 1215 until 2100 and then I went home, got changed and went to House of Blues for my fix for the week. However I didn’t drink much as I’m working in the chippie tomorrow 1115. I had a very good night and all the usually people were there.

Saturday 03rd February 2007: Revising for our Spilling and Pre Service Tests
Yesterday all it did was work, so threr is nothing to report. But today I worked as the greeter from 1315 until 2100 and I really enjoyed doing this job. Then after work Zoe, Carla and Celsey came to my apartment and I cooked us some pasta and we had nibbles, whilst I studied my spilling with them and I helped them revise for their pre service tests. I think everyone left about 2.15am because we kept getting distracted by chatting and having a giggle. It was a really good night and I think these girls are really nice.

Thursday 01st February 2007: Good News from Home
Today I found out the Lara, Kier, Adam and Lee and coming out to see me on the 9th June for two weeks, which are the same dates as my parents (yay, yay, yay). The rest of the day was a normal working day. I worked in the restaurant seating guests and I also did a little bit of greeting.

Wednesday 31st January 2007: Magic Kingdom
HAPPY 24th BIRTHDAY ERIN!!!
Today Celsey, Paddy and I went to Magic Kingdom and first of all we went on The Jungle Cruise and then the Pirates of the Caribbean. Then James and Liam met up with us and Celsey, James, Liam and I went on The Haunted Mansion Ride and somehow my glasses case with my prescription sunglasses fell out of my bag on to the floor during the ride. I told the operator and he said I would be able to get them back until at least tomorrow as they walk the tracks every night for lost property (just my luck).
From there we went on see Mickey’s PhilharMagic show, which was amazing and everybody should see it (I forgot it was even there and it was the 1st time I’d seen it since being here). We then went around to Tomorrowland, where Celsey and Paddy went on the Transit Authority (train ride) and James, Liam and I looked around so of the stalls. Then I left to go back to The Commons but I watched the night-time parade as I went. I had a very good day and I think it may be the last day I could spend with Liam before he goes home on Saturday.

Tuesday 30th January 2007: Celebration Town, Florida Mall and the Cinema
Nothing mush happened yesterday apart from me having to work in the chippie and I started spilling to managers (Laura and Rob) and this has taken me a step closer to becoming a server.
However Today Celsey and I had the day off so we hired a car so that we could collect our discount cards and holiday packs up from Celebration and the Taxi was going to cost $40 so we just got a car for the day.
I found my way to Celebration Town with out a problem but once we arrived neither of us knew where we had to go. So we were driving around the town looking for the Disney head offices but could find anything. So we called are manager at work to say we were lost and lucky he directed us to where we needed to be (I know what your driving, bloody women drivers, hehe). Once we collected our bits and bobs we went and did our weekly shop at wal-mart, which is much easier with a car.
On the way back to The Commons we stopped off at Lake Buena Vista shopping outlets to have a look around and I didn’t spend a penny (how good was I). After dropping off our shopping we made our way to the Florida Mall for a bit more shopping (I love this shopping mall, especially the music shop, I promise I didn’t spend much just 1 dvd).
After shopping we drove to EPCOT to collect Paddy, Mooch and Kirsty after work and then Celsey and I went to the Cinema to watch Catch and Release, which is the new Jennifer Gardener out over here.

Sunday 28th January 2007: House of Blues
So today I worked in the fish and chip shop but the best part of the day was going to House of Blues. I love it! I have been most Sunday night but the main reason I like it is because I get to see a lot of the UK people out and have a good chat with them. I music they play is mainly club, dance and R&B with a little bit of cheese thrown in. So I know most of you won’t like it

Friday 26th January 2007: Spend the day with James and Liam
Today I was given an Authorised Day Off (ADO) because we are over staffed because the parks are really quite. However it was really nice because I got to spend the day with James and Liam (whilst he’s over here), so we went to Magic Kingdom for the day. We went to the Jungle cruise ride, Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean. We also watched the 3pm parade, which I haven’t seen since I’ve been here so it was really good to watch as it is a new parade for The Year of A Million Dreams that Disney is promoting at the moment. During the day James, Liam and I 
meet a few characters and had photos taken with them. I was just like a little kid getting very excited every time I saw a character, which is very sad really.

meet a few characters and had photos taken with them. I was just like a little kid getting very excited every time I saw a character, which is very sad really. Before we headed home to get changed for dinner we stood and watch Wishes (the fireworks show) on Main Street and I love that show so much I could watch it all the time.
Then in the evening we went to a restaurant for dinner called Whispering Canoes, which is at The Wilderness Lodge Hotel. The meal was delicious we had Ribs in a BBQ sauce, Pork, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on the Cobb and Backed Bean for our main course which was like a mini buffet as they just refilled what we wanted because it was all placed in the centre of the table. I also had a piece of corn bread to start, which is like a piece of sponge cake and a chocolate milk shake which was gorgeous. After our meal Liam and I shared a piece of chocolate cake but I was beaten and only had a few bits.
I did think the restaurant was a but weird because if somebody asked their server for tomato sauce or crayons for example the server shouted across the restaurant for everyone who had that item on their table to take it across to the table that asked. Therefore you ended up with a table full of tomato sauce. However it was a lovely atmosphere for the children because they got to play around and have fun whilst they were eating their dinner. I had a wonderful day with James and Liam and hopefully I’ll be able to do something with them again before Liam goes home.

Thursday 25th January 2007: Beth’s 22nd Birthday
Because it was Beth’s birthday today we went to the Golden Corral for an all you can eat American breakfast buffet. It was very nice but because I haven’t been eating very much over the past week, due to being unwell, I couldn’t eat a lot. So I had some toast, 2 pancakes and 2 cups of orange juice. In the afternoon I went on MSN and chatted to some friends including Nicky, which was nice because I had spoken to her for a while. Then I got ready for work and left because I had to work from 1630 until 0030 in the chippy because it’s extra magic hours for resorts guests tonight, yay!!!!!

Wednesday 24th January 2007: Day Off
Today I went to Wal-mart for my weekly shop, which I detest with a passion. Because I have to get the bus there and then I can never do all my shopping in 1 hour because the queues are so big and the trip ends up taking me about 3 hours. Then once I got home and emptied all my shopping I was completely worn out. So I watch a film and fell asleep. In the evening Celsey and James (Mooch) came round to watch Highschool Musical and later Johnny came in to use my computer.

Tuesday 23rd January 2007: Released from work and Downtown Disney
I started work today in the chippy at 1200 and got told I could leave at 1500 if I wanted to, so I took the opportunity and left as it was beautiful sunny day. So I went home and changed and got straight on to the bus to Downtown Disney. I had a look around the shops and bought Beth’s Birthday present, it was a pink princess photo frame and I put in a photo of Celsey, Beth and I from Fort Desota and I also got her some sweets.
I started work today in the chippy at 1200 and got told I could leave at 1500 if I wanted to, so I took the opportunity and left as it was beautiful sunny day. So I went home and changed and got straight on to the bus to Downtown Disney. Monday 22nd January 2007: Service and Wine Training
Today was a very long day because I had to leave catch the bus from The Commons to Chatham to change buses to get to Disney University. However the bus was very late and thankfully the bus company sent another bus so that everybody to either go to Magic Kingdom or to the Disney University.
Then we had our service class from 0800 until 1200 and it basically showed us how to lay the table (which we have been doing since we arrived), how to carry plates to a table (again what we have already been shown) and all of the Disney Service Standards, which I have been studying for my pre service test for the a pass two week. Therefore that 4 hour class was a waste of time and we really didn’t need to be there for it.
After lunch at 1300 we came back to take our wine course, which was more interesting then the course before because I didn’t have a clue about wine or how it was made really. Therefore I learnt about different types of wines, where the grapes are grown, how the wine is produced, the correct way to open different types of wine and the Disney Standards for opening wines.
After the course Celsey, Heather and I went to the Outlet Mall and Zack meet us there. We did a little shopping and then Celsey and me came back to mine to make our t-shirts for lassies. Then Celsey, Heather and I went to lassies at about 2330 and I left after about an hour to go to bed because I still wasn’t feeling well and everyone else was going to Old Town.
